A newcomer in interior designers and home-renovation firms, India metros: three things worth knowing

Who is winning, and the move

Three firms are each making a distinct move. Livspace published a turnkey-design explainer on 1 September 2026 arguing for one project manager instead of five phone numbers. HomeLane posted four festival guides between 5 and 15 October, for Navratri and Dussehra, and offers customers ₹10,000 each time a friend tries HomeLane. DesignCafe runs a flat 25 percent off banner, with a Delhi cost guide telling readers to book before 31 October 2026.

The nearest competitors

Two things about your nearest competitors stand out. HomeLane's homepage states a 4.5 out of 5 Google rating from more than 35,000 reviews, while its Trustpilot page shows 2.0 from 43 reviews, 86 percent of them one-star, the newest dated 17 October and about an unrefunded payment. DesignCafe's Trustpilot page shows 1.3 from 53 reviews, 96 percent one-star, with delay and refund complaints and company replies all dated 13 October in near-identical wording.

The opening

Among the firms named here, the pages that matter lead with offers and headline numbers, and none puts a named project beside the date it was promised and the date it was handed over. Buyers are asking exactly that: in the independent reviews, a HomeLane customer wrote on 5 October that work started about four months earlier was still not done, and a DesignCafe customer wrote that the firm calls a project handed over before everything is installed. Our read is that a newcomer wins by publishing a handover record for each named project, promised date, actual date and what was paid when, because in a field of large claims that record is something a buyer can check.
