Who is winning, and the move

Jobber, Housecall Pro and Zoho FSM are each making a different move. Jobber leads with a 4.8 rating from 13,861 App Store reviews and offers new customers up to 40 percent off if they subscribe by 30 October, with Core from $21 a month on annual billing for the first year. Housecall Pro announced in early September a free nationwide event, Trades Thursday, and held it on 1 October, and it offers a $50 gift card for booking a demo. Zoho FSM competes on entry cost and pace: a free plan of 30 appointments a month and Transition Rules shipped on 14 October.

The nearest competitors

Jobber's Academy post of 16 October ranks Jobber first of seven and Housecall Pro second, quoting app ratings of 4.6 against 4.3, without saying how the order was set. Zuper's post of 1 October ranks Zuper first in its own roofing list yet concedes that onboarding takes six to eight weeks, against about a week for Jobber, while its homepage claims a 40 percent higher same-day close rate.

The opening

Our read is that outcome figures in this category have outrun their proof. Jobber's 44 percent first-year revenue growth, Housecall Pro's 35 percent and Zuper's 40 percent higher same-day close sit on their homepages with no sample beside them, and Zuper says its figures "aren't theoretical projections" without naming a source. Housecall Pro comes closest to a checkable case, naming Fastlane Coatings with 2.9 times more jobs completed after the first year but no job count, so a newcomer that publishes a named customer with the number of jobs and the period would offer what none of these four homepages, Zoho FSM's included, carries.
