A newcomer in sustainable and vegan online marketplaces, India: three things worth knowing

Researched the week of 20 October 2026

Who is winning, and the move

Brown Living and Vegan Dukan are each running a different move, as researched the week of 20 October 2026. Brown Living is running festive offers with no code needed until 31 October 2026, from 10% off when you buy four or more eligible items to 20% off 50 or more from its B2B catalogue, and it leads with a Brown Lens Verified badge. Vegan Dukan's homepage bar says a Tofu Guys subscription is now available and offers free delivery above Rs 700 in Bangalore and Rs 2000 elsewhere; its About section states 25K+ clients and 92.5% positive reviews.

The nearest competitors

Two nearby competitors are making claims worth a second look. On 17 October Bare Necessities published a blog post saying 93% reported up to 24-hour odour protection from its refillable deodorant stick, citing a double-blind clinical study; the post does not give the sample size, which its product page puts at 50 adults. Upcycleluxe calls itself India's first carbon neutral marketplace with 10000+ carbon neutral products, but the page its impact counters link to describes one tree planted per purchase with Grow Trees and names no measurement standard.

The opening

Our read is that proof at the product is what these marketplaces lack, and even the best example is partial. Bare Necessities' deodorant stick page links a lab certificate dated April 2026, but it covers skin safety, not the 93% odour result; Brown Living's toothbrush and Vegan Dukan's Tofu Guys tofu pages claim biodegradable, carbon neutral delivery and non-GMO with nothing to check. A newcomer can win by putting the evidence for each promise on the product that makes it, because the best page here still leaves its headline result uncertified and the other two show no test.
