Who is winning, and the move
Three houses with Chennai showrooms are each making a different move. On 20 October Nalli Silks leads its homepage with "Today's 200 New Arrivals". Kanakavalli behaves like a boutique: its October pick is one kanjivaram design in seven colourways, all at Rs 79,600, and it offers one-on-one video calls where a specialist shows saris chosen from the buyer's questionnaire. Also on 20 October, Pothys shows "4.8 out of 5 stars based on 2595 reviews" on its homepage and offers 20% off its Pillars of Pothys sarees, yet its Trustpilot page shows 2.4 from 98 reviews, the newest dated 12 October.
The nearest competitors
Two moves from the nearest competitors are worth watching. RmKV's blog carries ten posts between 24 August and 19 October, four of them October festival guides, the latest on 19 October with Diwali outfit ideas for every family member. Prashanti Sarees runs a dated new-arrivals page with five items for each date from 9 to 20 October, and leads its Deepavali season with flat 10% off sitewide.
The opening
Our read is that Pothys shows both the opening and the risk. It hosts 2,595 buyer reviews on its own site and replies to them, yet none there sits below three stars, while 62% of its Trustpilot reviewers give one star and one is still awaiting a refund; Prashanti, Kanakavalli and RmKV show praise on their own pages too, Google store ratings at Prashanti and stories of named brides at the other two. Complaints surface anyway, as Pothys's and Nalli's do on Trustpilot, and neither replies to them there, so a newcomer can win by publishing a buyer's complaint beside its reply and how it was put right.
